Accommodation at Rookin House
We have three accommodation barns on site but set apart from each other. All three barns have been tastefully converted from 16th century stone barns retaining lots of character with exposed beams and a rustic finish.
Blencathra View (sleeps 17/18) which has been designed for comfort using quality furnishings, has a traditional fire place whilst enjoying underfloor heating with a large modern kitchen with a range cooker.
Beckside Barn (sleeps 23) is centrally heated and is simply & comfortably furnished, has a modern kitchen, open plan lounge dining area and a pool table, plus a second lounge with leather sofas and underfloor heating and a drying room. ​
Camping Barn and pods (sleeps from 12 up to 24) is ideal if you are on a budget or would like a camping experience without worrying about what the weather is going to do. It is centrally heated, so warm and has a fully equipped kitchen, there are also inside toilets and showers.
The Cosy Cottage (sleeps 2 to 4) This property is ideal for couples or small families. A quaint little Cottage nestled in the center of Rookin House. Warm and cosy, it is the perfect place for a little break away.
For weekend bookings Rookin House self catering accommodation is ideal for groups of 10 to 26 who want an activity break. During the months of March to October we only hire the accommodation out at weekends to groups who are doing activities with Rookin House Activity Centre – Minimum spend £600 between the whole group. Mid week bookings are available to groups who may or may not want activities.
Set in the heart of the Lake District, midway between Keswick and Penrith, 9 miles from the M6 J40 and 4 miles from Lake Ullswater makes a perfect location.​
We are close to some of the greatest walks in the country from the strenuous hikes of Blencathra and Helvelyn to the gentle meanders of Aira Force. There is an excellent choice of local pubs and the market towns of Penrith and Keswick are a 10-15 minute drive if you want a night out.
