Rookin House – Pony Club (5 to 11yrs) & Young Equestrians Club (12yrs to 18yrs)

Rookin House has been an official Pony Club Centre since 2006. We offer members the opportunity to work towards badges and proficiency tests. The Pony Club training structure encourages members to take these tests which enable them to learn progressively about horse and pony care and riding. The tests are taken at recommended ages and are designed with certain objectives in mind.

Our  Pony Club sessions currently run fortnightly on a Sunday. 9am till 10.30am is £27.50 per session. 10.30am till 12.30pm is £35.00 per session. As of the 1st March 2023 the cost for a 2hr session is £35  and this includes a 45 minute  group riding lesson.

The objectives of The Pony Club are:

To encourage young people to ride and learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding.

To give instruction in riding and horse mastership and to educate Members to look after and take proper care of their animals.

To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self-discipline.

During the school holidays throughout the year we will be holding a variety of exciting and informative sessions. These include: badge test days, treasure hunts, equine quiz, gymkhana days, lessons, parent and child rides. During the summer holidays months we also hold our Pony Club Camp.

The annual cost of joining The Pony Club is £41, which is paid directly to The Pony Club. As a member of The Pony Club your child is automatically insured for Personal (Third Party) Liability arising from equestrian activities (particularly useful if your child rides friend’s ponies). They will also receive two newsletters a year with membership information and a Pony Club badge (extra cost of £3.59) & Tie (extra £7.45).
